A family that’s
all Joors!
It was 1928 when Derk Johannes Janssen passed through Vollenhove with a horse and cart. With crates full of fruit from the Betuwe and vegetables from the Koekoekspolder, his excellent eye for the best fresh produce made his fellow villagers happy. Almost 100 years later, Johannes and Ida Janssen, with the fresh produce wholesale company Joors, are still doing the same work as their great-grandfather.
The world as our supplier,
Europe as our market
While our products once only came from the Betuwe and Koekoekspolder, we now source our produce from all over the world. Our horse and cart have also been exchanged for an online sales platform and our own fleet of delivery vehicles. Our customers are no longer only our fellow villagers, but now include supermarket chains, retailers, wholesalers, and food services companies at home and abroad.
Johannes and Ida’s grandfather and father both played an important role in this development. One opened up shop in Genemuiden and Vollenhove, while the other has grown the family business into one of the largest market vendors in the Netherlands. The common denominator of four Janssen generations? A deep-rooted love of fruit and vegetables from a family that’s all Joors!
